The Yaquinna Bay Bridge towers over the KA'imimoana. a research vessel operated by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration ( NOAA). The Ka'imimoana ( Hawiian for "Ocean Seeker", is one several ocean going vessels of NOA"S Pacific Fleet that operates our of Newport. Doctors at OHSU perform a brain surgery to relieve a patient's tremors during Day Shoot 30. Under the command of Dr. Kim Burchiel they conduct another deep brain stimulation (DBS) procedure to help a patient with tremors. As part of an investigational device exemption physician-sponsored clinical trial, Dr. Burchiel was the first neurosurgeon in the United States to use DBS to treat successfully a patient with Parkinson's disease in 1990. This during Day Shoot 30 experiences.

12:23am, July 15, 2013 The glow of a mostly extinguished brush fire on the Lower Deschutes River about 2 miles upstream from where the Deschutes meets the Columbia lights up the canyon walls in this 2 1/2 minute exposure well after fire crews contained the blaze and left the scene.

Columbia River Bar pilot Capt. Robert Johnson releases the safety line and heads up the rope ladder to board the car carrier Modern Peak to take it out across the Columbia River bar to the ocean. He will get off on a larger launch or be plucked off the ship by helicopter once the ship is in the ocean.
